The Sherborne International Junior Programme is specifically tailored for younger international students aged 8 to 11 (or 12-year-olds without parental consent for independent town visits), providing a safe, friendly, and nurturing first experience of British boarding school life.

This programme is hosted on the Newell Grange campus, a smaller, purpose-built environment perfect for young learners, and runs concurrently with the Senior Course in the historic market town of Sherborne.

Focused English & Broader Learning
The course offers a comprehensive Intensive English curriculum delivered by primary specialists. Lessons are focused on building confidence and fluency with practical activities like delivering short speeches or participating in drama productions.

Small Classes: An average of just 6–8 students per class ensures personalized support and attention.

Intensive Tuition: Students receive 26 lessons (19.5 hours) of tuition per week.

Broader Subjects: English language skills are integrated into lessons introducing subjects like Maths, Science, Humanities, and Creative Arts to foster independence and curiosity.

Boarding Tailored for Juniors
Juniors live in the dedicated Junior Boarding House on the Newell Grange campus, which is designed with their needs in mind.

Accommodation: Students stay in single or twin en-suite bedrooms.

Pastoral Care: Dedicated house staff provide 24-hour care and supervision, creating a supportive community to help children settle quickly.

Excursions: The programme includes cultural trips and visits to local attractions and historic sites, tailored to the age group. Examples of trips may include amusement parks, Stonehenge, Bristol, and Bath.

Testimonials

"Thank you indeed! You all make this happen and leave a wonderful memory in these children's lives which is an unforgettable and irreplaceable treasure."

"I spoke with L both last night and this evening, and she is absolutely thrilled. The initial unease she felt has completely faded, and she has settled in wonderfully, already embracing her learning journey here. She excitedly shared how everyone danced to her favorite idol's song yesterday, and that the group will be visiting the Harry Potter Studio in London tomorrow! Every detail of her experience—especially the moments with her new friends—has brought such joy to her conversations.
Witnessing her transformation, I can already imagine how reluctant she will be to leave after these two enriching weeks at Sherborne. Thank you for creating such a memorable experience for her." R H China

"We are truly grateful for all the care and support our son received throughout his stay in the UK. His experience at Sherborne seems to have been deeply rewarding. He spoke with great enthusiasm about his lessons — English, Maths, Science, and more — and it’s clear that he has gained real confidence in learning through English. He also made many friends in the boarding house, and even the food, which we were initially a little concerned about, turned out to be something he genuinely enjoyed. He said it was delicious and was clearly very happy. He’s already expressed his wish to return next year, so we are now starting to think about preparations for that". R G Italy
